Reminder: Earth Hour is this Saturday at 8:30PM

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.
This Saturday sees the forth annual Earth Hour, which is again organised by the WWF. Around the world, at 8:30pm, famous landmarks and natural wonders will plunge into darkness for an hour. Buildings include the Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate, Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Empire State Building, Table Mountain, Christ the Redeemer statue, Sydney Opera House and the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa.
In the UK, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament will finally join this impressive list of landmarks too, as will other buildings in London such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Royal Albert Hall, Piccadilly Circus and the BT Tower.
You too can join them, by signing up for Earth Hour at the WWF website, and remembering to switch off your lights at 8:30pm this Saturday.
